YogaBananas 2011, Yoga Teacher RYT 200, whYoga For Pregnancy Teacher Training 2011
Antonia has been searching for the elusive ‘dream job’ in the TV and Film industry and whilst she’d had some great jobs none of them had been quite the ‘dream’ she was after. She had been doing my yoga on and off for years and always felt wonderfully alive and balanced after every session. She thought ‘this is how I want to feel everyday’ so one day she woke up and looked for yoga teacher training courses and there it was! A few months later she was in Thailand living, breathing and learning yoga. She could see clearly how much yoga had to give so came back committed to teaching yoga. That was early 2011 and since then she has trained in the yoga bananas technique so that she can teach children’s yoga. She has also completed her pregnancy teacher training in August 2011 with Vicky Oliver at WhYoga which she is really excited about.

Barb currently teaches nursery and leads the lower school yoga program at an independent school in Hampstead, Northwest London. She has a love of yoga that has been building for six years, leading her to train with Vicky and Yoga Bananas in early 2010. What a fantastic turn of events! After becoming completely inspired by Vicky and her program, and adding in her personal passion for children's literature, this year she launched Bookworm Yoga. Bookworm is children's yoga that combines great children's picture books with complimentary yoga poses for an engaging and dynamic class for children ages 3 to 7. If you're interested in learning more about Barb's program, drop her an email - she'd love to hear from you!

YogaBananas 2010, Freelance Costumier at the Royal Opera House -Covent Garden, Creative Arts Manager for a children's theatre company (Theatre for Life) - Hong Kong, RADA. Emma has always loved children and her background in drama and theatre means that she naturally brings a lively and fun energy into her yoga teaching, whilst maintaining and subtly incorporating the important qualities that yoga promotes. She is focused on nurturing a child's confidence and connection to inner self by encouraging them to free their creativity within a safe and disciplined environment. She believes that the YogaBananas way of teaching brings about a subtle, positive shift in a child's consciousness so that they are more aware of being kind to themselves and are able to extend this kindness outwards into the world. She also believes that yoga taught in this way is incredibly beneficial to any child and helps to let them develop under their own steam and develop into a more compassionate, loving and mindful human being. Emma is delighted to have the opportunity to teach yoga to children and also hopes to train further in India and Bali in the near future.

Anna has practised yoga since she was in her 20s, and recommends yoga to whoever she can whenever she gets the chance! She studied Psychology and Education at Oxford Brookes University as a mature students when her 3 daughters were young children. She then trained as a Montessori Early Years teacher. In 1998 Anna took a change of direction by opening her own children's Performing Arts school as part of a well-respected franchise. This new direction was born out of her own frustrated aspirations to perform as a child but not being encouraged to, and the interest her own daughters were showing in performing. (And one is now a professional singer, dancer and actress) She was also very much drawn to the role that performing arts training plays in enabling children to gain valuable life skills and developing their confidence and self-esteem. In 2010 Anna felt the need for another new challenge and trained to teach Mother and Baby massage and yoga. She is now running classes in Brighton and Hove, and sees her Yoga Bananas training as a natural extension, enabling her to teach older children too. As someone whose whole adult life has focussed on children and their well-being, Anna is looking forward to continuing to support children in becoming the very best that they can be through yoga.

After that I travelled to India for another 3 months where I did a short but usefull relaxing oil massage course. By mid 2009 I was in Scotland where my husband - Alistair (also a Yoga Instructor) - is from. Towards the end of 2009 I returned to Brazil with Alistair, where I did my Reiki course. In December we found out that I was pregnant. We stayed in Brazil until June 2010 and the plan was to come to Scotland to have Elijah, my son (whom by the way decided to be borne in Amiens, France 2 months premature - We stopped there for four days that became almost a month!) Over time, through experimentation with different teachers in different countries and a very strong interest in sufi spirituality, she started to understand the spiritual benefits. Now, yoga is life.
